Welcome Home Movers
The Welcome Home Movers Program is a vital initiative of DuMonde Helping Hands Foundation that provides free moving services to newly arrived Permanent Residents (PR), confirmed refugees, and verified low-income individuals or families who are truly in need. Our goal is to help ease the transition into Canadian life by offering practical support for those who are starting anew in this country. We understand that moving can be a daunting and costly process, especially for those who are already facing financial and emotional challenges. Through this program, we aim to alleviate some of those burdens and ensure that newcomers have a smoother, more manageable settlement experience.
Program Overview
The Welcome Home Movers Program provides essential moving services to help individuals and families relocate into their new homes. We offer a full range of moving support, including the transport of belongings, packing and unpacking assistance, and the careful handling of personal items to ensure that the move is stress-free and efficient. The program is designed to serve:
• New Permanent Residents (PR) who have recently settled in Canada
• Confirmed refugees who have been resettled through government and private sponsorship programs
• Verified low-income individuals or families who can provide appropriate documentation, proving their financial need
By providing this service at no cost, we reduce one of the major obstacles newcomers face when establishing themselves in Canada—the financial strain of moving into a new home.
How the Program Works
The Welcome Home Movers Program is designed to be accessible, straightforward, and responsive to the unique needs of each participant.
Our process includes: However, maybe limited but also subject to the following:
THESE ARE FOR BASIC MOVING ONLY.
1. Eligibility Verification:
To ensure that we are helping those who need it the most, applicants must provide proof of their status as a Permanent Resident, confirmed refugee, or verified low-income individual or family. Documentation such as PR cards, refugee status documents, or income verification forms are required to confirm eligibility.
2. Booking and Scheduling:
Once eligibility is confirmed, participants can schedule a moving date. Our team coordinates with clients to select a suitable time for the move, doing the best we can to accommodate their preferences and needs.
3. Transporting Belongings:
On the scheduled moving day, our professional and trained team handles the transportation of the items to the new home. We ensure that furniture, appliances, and personal belongings are carefully packed and safely transported.
4. Furniture and Essentials:
In some cases, we may also offer gently used furniture and household items through donations to help make a new home more comfortable for those in need.
Program Goals
• Support Newcomers in Their Settlement Journey: The Welcome Home Movers Program aims to reduce the physical and emotional stress that often accompanies relocation. By providing moving assistance, we enable newcomers to focus on settling in, finding employment, and integrating into their new community.
• Promote Social Integration: Moving is one of the first steps in making a house a home. By helping individuals and families with their move, we help them establish roots and feel welcome in their new communities, facilitating social and cultural integration.
• Ensure Accessibility for Vulnerable Groups: We understand that newcomers, especially refugees and low-income families, may not have the financial resources to pay for professional moving services. This program helps ensure that no one is excluded from participating in Canadian society due to financial limitations.
• Encourage Volunteerism and Community Building: The program provides a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to contribute to the well-being of their community.
Program Benefits
The Welcome Home Movers Program has significant benefits for individuals and families who are new to Canada. These include:
• Reduction of Financial Barriers: By offering the service for free, we eliminate one of the significant expenses involved in settling into a new home.
• Stress-Free Relocation: Newcomers do not have to worry about the complexities of moving, enabling them to focus on other important aspects of their settlement.
• Community Support: Our program fosters a sense of community and solidarity, providing newcomers with a welcoming environment and the support they need to adjust to their new life in Canada.
• Better Start in Canada: By providing moving assistance, we help ensure that newcomers have a fresh and positive start in their new homes, laying the foundation for successful integration.
